This document provides a general protocol for initiation of small-scale mammalian cell spinner cultures. This procedure is based upon a 200 mL microcarrier spinner culture. Fourteen and one half (14.5) gram (g)/liter (L) of 125-212 micron microcarriers are recommended for preliminary studies; therefore 2.9 g of these microcarrier types would be used for a 200 mL culture.
