    Specificity: Glucuronoyl esterase is believed to disconnect hemicellulose from lignin through the hydrolysis of the ester bond between 4-O-methyl-D-glucuronic acid residues of glucuronoxylans and aromatic alcohols of lignin.
    Specific Activity: ~ 27 U/mg (40oC, pH 6.5 on pNP-GEUX3)
    Unit Definition: One Unit of glucuronoyl esterase activity is defined as the amount of enzyme required to release one μmole of of p-nitrophenol (pNP) per minute from p-nitrophenyl-22-(methyl 4-O-methyl-α-D-glucopyranosyluronate)-β-D-xylobioside (5 mM) in sodium phosphate buffer (100 mM), pH 6.5 at 40oC. Analysis was carried out using the Glucuronoyl Esterase Assay kit, K-GEUX3.
