In 3.2 M ammonium sulphate.
Supplied at ~ 18,000 U/mL.

Stability: 
> 2 years at 4^oC.

Specific activity:
~ 4,960 U/mg protein (using A₂₄₀ method) at pH 7.0 and 25^oC.

Unit definition:
One Unit of catalase activity will decompose 1 micromole of H₂O₂ per minute at pH 7.0 and 25^oC, while the H₂O₂ concentration falls from 10.3 mM to 9.2 mM. The rate of disappearance of H₂O₂ is followed by observing the rate of decrease in the absorbance at 
240 nm (A₂₄₀).

Specificity:
Decomposition of hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen.
